"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house." Matthew 5:14-15

"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it." Matthew 13:45-46

Showers of Blessing!

There shall be showers of blessing:
This is the promise of love;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
Sent from the Savior above.
  • Refrain:
    Showers of blessing,
    Showers of blessing we need:
    Mercy-drops round us are falling,
    But for the showers we plead.
There shall be showers of blessing,
Precious reviving again;
Over the hills and the valleys,
Sound of abundance of rain.

There shall be showers of blessing;
Send them upon us, O Lord;
Grant to us now a refreshing,
Come, and now honor Thy Word.

There shall be showers of blessing:
Oh, that today they might fall,
Now as to God we’re confessing,
Now as on Jesus we call!

There shall be showers of blessing,
If we but trust and obey;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
If we let God have His way.

I just arrived home from meeting a friend for lunch. She only had a brief time before she had to return to work. We had been in the habit of walking together once a week, but that isn't an option right now due to my foot issues. So we came up with another plan - meeting for lunch instead. This allowed us time to be able to catch up on what has been happening in each of our lives.

After our short time together I found myself humming and singing this old hymn written above. God filled my cup to overflowing this afternoon by having this fellowship time with my friend. Our time together was a real blessing and inspiration to me.

I smile as I remember our hour of sharing. I'm in the midst of writing a homeschool article about communication and the telephone. Even with the advent of all kinds of technological advances, there is nothing that replaces the beauty and encouragement of face to face communication. So today, I praise God for my friend!

Sometimes remembering hymns are awesome.... and agreed... with the world of technological advancements...text, blogs, FB, instant message, cell phone, twitter, linked in, email.... and the list could go on.... it is nice to just sit down and enjoy the company of a friend.

....wow.... and to even turn off all the noise sometimes! That even makes it better! :)

Blessings to you! :)
