"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house." Matthew 5:14-15

"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it." Matthew 13:45-46

Step Out in Faith

One of the things I have observed as I have been going through the results of the struggles we face as Christian women, is a longing we share. Women desire to have deep and meaningful relationships with other women. But I think fear is one of the biggest factors that affect this. We are afraid to step out and makes ourselves vulnerable to someone else. So we choose not to. By making that decision, we rob us of the thing we most desire - intimate friendships. Relationships like these require us to be open and willing to share. You will likely find that your friend faces some of the same struggles. Just think how much you can both grow if you are willing to open up and share about the things you are facing. You may find a prayer warrior in your friend. But you first must take that step of faith.

Another issue is lack of time. We find ourselves swamped with 'life'. There are more things on our 'to do' list each day than we can possibly finish. So what is the key to getting everything done? I don't know that there is a key to that. But I have been learning more about cleaning my home and keeping up with things, so I do have some of that free time needed to invest in a friend, or sometimes just alone time for me. I have been learning about some of the FlyLady strategies. You can learn more about it at: http://www.flylady.net/

What can you do this weekend to start developing or nurturing a friendship?

I can really identify with this post. You have hit the nail on the head. So many of us are insecure and so won't step out in faith to make new friends. I want to grow in faith in that area and in many others. I also need to learn how to manage my time better. Thanks for the link to "flylady". I'm going to check it out.

God bless...

I've found you through Scrappin'Servant blog. You are writing things in your blog that are dear to my heart. I've worked hard to be the first one to make the step of vulnerability....and with time, it pays off. I have some dear kindred spirit friends that I can pour my heart out to and not be judged....but cared for.
