"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house." Matthew 5:14-15

"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it." Matthew 13:45-46

Rainbows and Sunrises

It was with a bit of effort that I pulled myself out of bed this morning. I had done a lot of cleaning yesterday and this morning was feeling the effects. I guess that means I'm getting more 'mature'. :) The bones and joints just aren't quite as fluid as they used to be!

I only had a short time to walk before taking my son in for his college classes this morning. They are calling for rain today, so I was quite surprised to see a glorious sunrise. I turned around shortly down the road to head back to the house so I could capture it on film. I know that the photos didn't do it justice because within moments it had changed and was not quite as brilliant as when I first stepped outside my home. Even though it was a short time to watch the colors of the sunrise, I stood in awe of the beauty of the day.

As I walked and prayed I noticed how much the sky was changing and becoming more overcast and looking like rain. But as I looked up I happened to spot a partial rainbow in stark contrast against the dark sky. I praised God for the beauty of the morning.

I have been going through a rough time emotionally lately. I don't know if it is from the things that are going on in our lives right now or if it is that 'stage of life' that I'm in with being in my 40's. All I know is that I feel like I have been on a roller coaster lately and I'm not particularly fond of this type of amusement ride. I'm more of the train ride type of girl. Last night as I journaled my thoughts from the day, I asked the Lord to give me some type of encouragement.

"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands." Psalm 19:1 I praise God for the encouragement of a sunrise and a rainbow.

I, too, am more of a train-ride girl myself, but it seems as though I've been on a roller coaster lately, as well. Such is life sometimes.

I pray the Lord settles and encourages our hearts. With Him, we can endure a few roller coaster rides!

Blessings!
